Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off hard floors and carpets, and they are very good in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ and other top rated robot Vacuum rated robots we evaluated, the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may be stuck on things like socks or power cords and it can have difficulty in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is empty, it returns to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully charge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest technology. It's self vacuum-charging and self-navigating. -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot vacuum sale via the app or voice.

In our tests the i7+ was more agile and faster than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface types, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and sweep the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. However, it did not do particularly well at avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks which was a disappointment. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tested, which might be a deterrent for certain shoppers.
