Item upgrades give players the ability to upgrade equipment that they already own. This can be done by any item upgrader NPC.

Upgrades boost the stats of an item upgrader and add extras based on its type. Examples include Whistan's shield, for FB Sorcs, and Goldwraps for build casters.

Armour

Armour is one of the key things that keeps Link protected from damage in the majority of situations. Although it isn't able to be upgraded like weapons, it can be improved in various ways to enhance its defense capabilities.

The fundamental idea behind armour is to safeguard animals or people from physical harm or injury whether from physical assault or from an array of environmental and activity hazards. In the past, armour was typically constructed from leather or fabric however later, metal protections were also used for military purposes, particularly like heavy cavalry or combat drones.

As with weapons, there are a number of ways that armor can be upgraded but most will require visiting one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located throughout Hyrule. Each fountain comes with its own level of upgrades available and more will provide higher levels of protection, and require a higher price in rupees and materials to unlock.

First, Armor Upgrades are permanent upgrades. Once they've been installed, they can't be removed unless you own another piece of equipment that has the same upgrade. It is important that you only apply the highest level of upgrades to your gear and that you have the necessary materials to complete the upgrade.

You can find the upgrade components you require in a variety of locations throughout Hyrule. These include merchants, shrines and even enemies. They're usually identified by a blue triangle or a gold circle and are found in huge numbers as you progress through. While they might appear randomly, there's a chance that acquiring certain upgrade components will result in quests that reward players with more.

It's also worth noting that, even though the level of protection offered by each upgrade differs but it's the same across all upgrades and will always be better than nothing. A full set of upgraded armor will give you a powerful defense boost that will protect against all types of attacks and will also protect against magic. This makes it an effective weapon for any class.

Weapons

You can upgrade your guns by using special upgrades to create a truly unique weapon. They can increase the damage, alter the weapon's stats in order to adapt to your particular build and even unlock new attachments, such as unique enchantments, ammo types and other options for aesthetics.

You'll need both the upgrade component and the weapon itself to upgrade it. The weapon must also be above a certain level for the upgrade to be effective and most weapons only take one upgrade at one time.

You can find weapons upgrade components scattered across the globe and from enemies, or they can be purchased from merchants. Upgrade components are a mix of ingredients that you are able to incorporate into armors, weapons trinkets, gathering tools and trinkets in order to gain an attribute bonus. The equipment has to be of a certain level before it can accept the upgrade. It can be upgraded in the same way as other items.

Upgrades are a mix of Smithing Stones (a type of stone) and Runes. They can be used to boost the power of weapons and improve their ability to scale with other stats. These upgrades are available from enemies in the open world, or from merchants. They can also be dropped by combat.

There are two NPCs who can upgrade your weapons: the Blacksmith Hewg in the Roundtable Hold hub area and the Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor hub area. Both of these NPCs will take your Smithing Stones and Runes in exchange for a more powerful version of the weapon as well as an upgrade.

It's crucial to prioritize upgrading your most-used items first, then those you won't be replacing soon. Upgrade your weapon first, then upgrade your chest, shoulders hands, feet, and hands when you are planning to play in a melee-based build. The same principle applies to Magic and Utility Items. But, depending on your playstyle, some procs will be more beneficial than others. The same goes for Armour Reforges, with certain types being superior to others.

Magic Items

A character is able to upgrade only one item of magic. If an upgrade project is canceled, any subsequent upgrades for the item upgrade will not start. Upgraded magic items cost twice as much gold to create or purchase, but they can have additional benefits.

A magical item can be any item with special properties or effects. These are usually weapons, but they could also be armors, shields, cloaks and potions. They could also be rings, scrolls or other items. Some of these items may be converted into a sentient.

Most magical items can be upgraded to become infused with additional abilities. This can make them more useful to a player, or it could help them conquer any difficult situation. A weapon that is infused can provide bonuses to damage against a particular kind of enemy, for example. This is particularly useful for characters that have reached a stage at which they are likely to encounter the same type of monster repeatedly in dungeons.

A ring that is infused can grant the ability to resist piercing, bludgeoning, or slashing damage from nonmagical attacks (not including silvered ones) until the next time the character takes a long rest. This is especially beneficial for melee martial characters or any other character who wishes to save the hassle and expense of buying an armor.

Certain items enchanted by magic have special powers which allow the character to cast spells in addition to the ones on the list of spells for their class. This is a great benefit for a character who has difficulties maintaining their spell slots due to multiclassing. These enchanted objects require an Intelligence check (Arcana) and the spell is determined by rolling a table based upon the amount of Intelligence points expended.

Other objects that are enchanted can allow the player's appearance to be altered or create a new appearance. These are particularly beneficial for characters who have had to leave their home, or are in a place that they aren't welcomed. A magical Best item upgrade can provide them with invisibility or make them invisible to everyone, except for the chosen person.

Utility Items

Utility items are anything that does not fall into the categories of Armor or Clothing and are able to perform a variety of capabilities. Contrary to Weapons and Armor, no one utility item is able to be in conflict with another. The majority of utility items come with a passive effect that players can activate by using them. However, some of them have additional abilities which are activated by pressing a button, or by activating the skill.

Generally speaking, the most popular type of utility item upgrader is the Flashlight, which illuminates the surrounding area. Other utility items include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player to hover in mid-air when moving and the Jetpack which allows him to accelerate in any directions while on the ground. In the Engineering section, you can instantly produce several utilitarian items, whereas others are unlocked by research projects or experimental projects on the Proving Ground.

In addition to the items that are available in the standard inventory, players can also unlock the most powerful utility items by buying them from the Atomic Shop and also from seasonal Scoreboard rewards (such as the Shadow Goggles). Certain of these items can be upgraded to make them more effective.

The majority of utility items boost the combat ability of a particular character or provide the player with some kind of navigation advantage. Sharpening stones, crafted by a Weaponsmith, increase Power and Ferocity. Maintenance Oils, made by the Huntsman, increase Concentration and healing power. Other utility items can be used by players to increase Damage or Condition Damage.

All XCOM soldiers are capable of equipping one useful item at the beginning of the campaign, and an additional slot becomes available by equipping certain types of armor or completing engineering research or other projects in the Proving Ground. In the Alien Hunters DLC, additional slots are added by equipping the Grenade Launcher which allows players to equip an Smoke Grenade or Bomb in an additional grenade slot while an offensive grenade is equipped in the main slot for grenades.
