World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for examplethe "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment that require the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to alter the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

The player can get the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will drop in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much they'll improve after a future reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be expensive, and there is a high risk that the item upgrader kit may be obsolete or even break when it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could destroy Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item upgrader. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the possibility of failure. Certain upgrades also provide an additional bonus when reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in a variety of ways, and we suggest getting them to level 15 whenever you can.

You'll often see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes more quickly.

Glyphs, the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions are the most popular. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a stat by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the many Glyphs, and there are also a few rare glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385. Each item level requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item, and when enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player improves a piece of equipment, the base item is replaced by an item that is new. This means that the same armor piece will become the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This can be a downside since the item may become more expensive even if you don't need it.

Upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do this. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will have a level 1 base and a completely different set of bonuses. This can be beneficial however it shouldn't be done often as it can be a waste of resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or swims like a dolphin). This can be upgraded several times, each time raising the maximum roll by an increment of 10. This item upgrader kit can be very useful in PvP battles, since the Best item upgrader version of it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

The upgrade of items allows players to upgrade the level of their available equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrading armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of that piece, while upgrading weapons will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear, which can be upgraded up to eight times. Every time you upgrade an item it has the chance to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can result in the item returning to its original condition and the player having to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item fails to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will be deducted any gained bonuses such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as all other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or reload speed). However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance, the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a typical equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will have a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items might require different upgrades than regular gear. For instance they may require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. The player will still need to take every piece of equipment they want to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the expenses that are listed above.
